Fun Dip
When we went to Elko during Colsen's birthday weekend, Colsen discovered the joy of Fun Dip. Thank you Willy Wonka for this confectionary wonder. What better way to pass the time in a hotel room than to eat sugar with a stick made of sugar?
I was actually quite impressed with Colsen's adeptness at being able to dip the stick so easily into the sugar packet for consumption. Should this actually be a concern rather than a point of familial pride? I hate being so happy about things that later on become a regret. I'm just going to confuse the little guy.
Making Cookies
One of my all time favorite family traditions is making cookies. I mostly did this with my grandma when I was younger. My dad never seemed to mind when it was cookie time either as he was the beneficiary. So I guess the ultimate goal is to teach Colsen to make me cookies when I have a craving for them.
Colsen likes to help me with everything in the kitchen, from pouring spices on stuff to putting the dishes away. So the other day I decided to try making cookies with him. I mean, come on, he's 2 now. He should have a firm grasp on baking by now.
He of course wanted to stir all the ingredients.
One of his favorite things to do when we're in the kitchen is cracking eggs. Actually, it's more smashing the eggs than cracking them, but I have gotten really good at picking shell parts out of the yolks.
At one point we had to stop for a break to eat brown sugar. It is mighty tasty. In fact he would have been satisfied just with that.

After slightly burning the first batch, they turned out all right. Colsen certainly enjoyed them.
He also very much enjoyed feeding them to Cookie Monster.
Cousin Amy, if you're out there reading this, I think we're ready to tackle some Christmas sugar cookies. You know, if your mom will let us use the sprinkles.
